So sometimes I get really stuck on things, and I’m stuck on a couple of things right now, just a couple. Ok, first off, I’m re-watching the Fourth Man for about the zillionth time. Its amazing, like really amazing. I mean, imagine Basic Instinct meets, I don’t know, something wacky and supernatural-like. Oh, and kind of homo, but only a little. I promise. And I encourage all you ladies, and some of you boys, to take a page from the lookbook of the leading lady, she’s killer.
So. Uhm. My next obsession is Dirty Flaws. DIRTY FLAWS. If you haven’t checked it out, you must, and you must now. I mean it. Nikki Moose’s blog is a fashion cache, she’s a goth guru… no. I’m beginning to sound like a groupie, a really corny groupie. Goth guru? Please. I just vommed in my mouth a little.
And just to round out the list of stuff I’m stuck on:
BLACK MAGIC
TELEVISION
CHIARASCURO
DREAMS
TIBET
BURLESQUE
NORMA DESMOND
RUFF CLUB!

hello wind pushing across my face as my head hangs out the window in the cab ride over the williamsburg bridge. If my eyes were open and I wasn’t feeding the fish in the east river recycled whiskey, I would look like a happy puppy enjoying the freedom of hard nite air and the lit up city skyline. But nope, just my blonde head hanging out the window after a nite of beer, bowling, whiskey & naps on rooftops w/ my untied boots dangling off the side.

FINALLY.. the long anticipated Jack Beats EP titled UFO will be released digitally 3rd August on Herve’s Cheap Thrills label. For those who dont want to wait it out its out and available now on wax via Juno Records. I was fortunate enough to receive the promo package a few weeks ago thanks to our friends at Your Army so I thought I would share what the package included with a little mini-mix of the three tracks.
First up is the title track and my personal favorite of the buch ” UFO “. Starting off to what could be one of the best intro tracks of 2009 it builds into what has came to be the signature Jack Beats wobbly rubber band-ish bassline that chugs along with the LFO’s steadily increasing leading into an epic breakdown. Fist punching anthem!
Second is ” Get Down ” that almost has more of a Herve feel to it but then jumps back into their bassline sound that reminds me of their ” Jack Got Jacked ” remix. Hip Hop vocals round out the mix with a ” Get Loose, Get Drunk, Get Down ” hook. Choon!
Wrapping up the EP is ” Labyrinth ” that is the darker of the three tracks. Old school samples, 4×4 dark wobble bassline, 90’s rave stabs. A taste of what their LP may deliver? I think so.
Conclusion: Solid EP from some of the best in business! All three tracks have ROCKED RUFF CLUB numerous times!
Check out the mini-mix then go BUY NOW or on the 3rd when it drops digitally!
Jack Beats ” UFO ” EP Mini-Mix:
Today marks the 25th anniversary of the film “Purple Rain”.
I can’t believe how time flies.. It only seems like yesterday I was in my parents’ living room in Normal, Illinois watching MTV and looking at the showtimes for the film which was playing at Eastland Mall cinemas. They agreed to take me to the 5pm after my Dad got home from work. It was AMAZING ! and today it’s still as amazing as I remember. Everyone should see this film at least once. I only wish I could have been old enough to see the tour. Apparently I was too young to go to that.
